About The Position

The developing Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for a tenure-track full-time core faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within the School of Public Health. The successful candidates will contribute to the development, delivery, and assessment of the curriculum; mentor and advise students; and engage in scholarly activity and service that support the mission of the program, the Department of Kinesiology, and the School of Public Health. This search seeks to fill one position with expertise in neurologic physical therapy and neurorehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Physical Therapy degree with Board certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy (ABPTS or equivalent) OR Academic Doctorate (PhD, DSc, EdD) in a related area.
  • Clinical experience in neurologic physical therapy (e.g., stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, neurodegenerative disease).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach at graduate level (prior teaching, lab instruction).
  • Evidence or potential for scholarly productivity (publications, presentations, grant activity).
  • Commitment to working in an emerging DPT program, including program development, accreditation, and student mentoring.

Nice To Haves

  • Academic doctoral degree (PhD, DSc, EdD) or equivalent in Rehabilitation Science, Neuroscience, or related field
  • Hold or be eligible for Physical Therapist licensure in Nevada (or compact-eligible).
  • Experience coordinating clinical education or serving as a clinical instructor / site coordinator.
  • Experience in curricular design, simulation, or use of technology in neuro education.
  • Effective interdisciplinary collaboration (e.g., working with neuroscience, engineering, bioinformatics).
  • Successful track record of extramural grant funding or large-scale research projects.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience mentoring students and junior faculty.
