About The Position

Goldey-Beacom College invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Sports Management who will play a leading role in shaping a forward-thinking, industry-connected academic program. This position offers the opportunity to combine teaching excellence, mentorship, and practical engagement with the sports industry-helping students apply classroom learning to real-world challenges. The ideal candidate will bring both academic depth and hands-on industry experience to prepare students for dynamic careers in sports management and leadership.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D., DBA, Ed.D, or equivalent) in Sports Management, Sports Administration, or a closely related field is preferred. ABD candidates, anticipated dissertation defense, and relevant industry experience will be considered.
  • Master's degree in Sports Management, Sports Administration, or a closely related field with relevant work experience will be considered for a Visiting Assistant Professor status.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching, particularly across multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, and online).
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, experiential learning, or program innovation.
  • Experience working collaboratively within academic and industry environments.
  • Familiarity with accreditation, assessment, and outcomes-based education is highly desirable.
  • Current appointment at the Associate Professor level or equivalent academic rank.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time teaching experience at a four-year College or University.
  • Proven record of teaching and scholarly excellence.
  • Applicants will be required to submit their complete dossier supporting their rank, including promotion and evaluation materials.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver High-Impact Teaching: Design, deliver, and assess undergraduate courses in Sports Management with a focus on experiential, applied learning.
  • Mentor and Engage: Build strong relationships with students, providing mentorship that supports academic success, professional growth, and career readiness.
  • Program Leadership: Collaborate on the development and continuous improvement of a comprehensive Sports Management program that blends theory, data-driven decision-making, and real-world application.
  • Industry Collaboration: Cultivate partnerships with local, regional, and national sports organizations to expand internship, practicum, and project-based learning opportunities.
  • Assessment and Accreditation: Contribute to departmental assessment initiatives and program accreditation processes to maintain GBC's commitment to academic excellence.
  • Teaching Load: Full-time faculty teach eight (8) courses during each academic year.
