About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor of School Counseling to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. For more information, please visit https://www.tamiu.edu/ This is a tenure-track faculty position. Primary duties will include teaching of face-to-face and online graduate courses. A reduced load (2-2 for the first 2 years plus research funds and conference travel money) is provided to new tenure-track hires to allow them to focus on conducting research and publishing in scholarly journals. Course release may be provided to Associate Professors based on research productivity. Duties also include mentoring students as well as providing service on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in School Counseling or a related field. ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment.
  • For those applying for the Associate Professor rank, scholarly output must be commensurate to rank.
  • We strongly encourage candidates with a strong record of or potential for sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals (commensurate with experience) and seeking and/or securing external grant funding and have the ability to teach in areas that complement/strengthen our programs.
