The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a full-time, on-campus, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Human Physiology beginning September 1, 2026, for an academic year (9-month) appointment. This position is responsible for teaching undergraduate, in-person courses in Anatomy and Physiology, with additional teaching opportunities based on departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise. The successful candidate may serve as an academic advisor for students in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Professional Programs and will have opportunities to develop and deliver courses in UMPI’s innovative YourPace competency-based education modality. This role requires collaboration with faculty across Math and Sciences, Health Sciences, and Human Services programs, as well as mentoring students participating in Research Learning Experiences (RLEs). Modest funding for undergraduate-involved research is available through the NIH-funded Maine INBRE program, with additional competitive funding opportunities for faculty-led biomedical research. The work schedule for this on-campus position will be variable based on the teaching schedule and research demands. Work beyond regular hours, which may include nights and weekends, will be necessary to meet the requirements of the position. Regular office hours on campus will be established. The salary for Assistant Professor is $64,711 and the salary for Associate Professor is $73,786. A University of Maine System transfer rate may be considered in accordance with UMS policies.
