About The Position

The School of Education and Behavioral Studies invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Health and Human Performance. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in areas such as biomechanics, clinical exercise methodology, research methods, fitness assessment, exercise prescription, and health promotion. Responsibilities include curriculum development, student advising, oversight of internships and site mentor relationships, and active participation in departmental, university, and community service. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to the Christian faith and a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. The position requires development of an active research agenda that engages undergraduate students, preferably in functional movement, exercise physiology, biochemistry, or kinesiology. The department offers well-equipped biomechanics, physiology, and sports medicine laboratories, with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across biology, health professions, and pharmacy.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in kinesiology, physiology, biomechanics or a related allied health discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience teaching and other relevant, health-related experience.
  • A history of conducting individual and collaborative research, as well as, pursuing external funding opportunities
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and align across a wide variety of people.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence and service to the college, university, and community.
  • Demonstrated Christian commitment and the ability to integrate faith into coursework.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with online or hybrid teaching modalities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses aligned with academic and professional expertise.
  • Develop, update, and assess course materials and curriculum.
  • Participate in curriculum design, coordination, and program evaluation.
  • Advise HHP majors and minors (after one year of service).
  • Supervise student internships and undergraduate research projects.
  • Maintain current knowledge in relevant academic and professional areas.
  • Serve on School and University committees.
  • Participate in student recruitment and admissions processes.
  • Engage in professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Maintain relevant professional certifications (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, NASM, FASEB).
  • Contribute to accreditation processes and monitoring.
  • Maintain an active research agenda that includes mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Stay current in research methodologies and disciplinary developments.
  • Publish in peer-reviewed venues.
  • Present and participate in professional conferences.
