The Department of Counseling and Psychological Studies at Bowie State University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant/ Associate professor position to start in August 2026. We are seeking a doctoral- level professional with a background in mental health counseling. Prospective candidates should possess a doctorate degree from a CACREP-approved program and/or have full time experience at the college/university level working in a CACREP approved program prior to July 1, 2013, should have practica or work experience in either higher education, and/or in the community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching across multiple areas, with a focus on mental health counseling. Prospective candidates should also have a history of publications and interest in research; active scholarship and grantsmanship/fund raising; and expectations of contributing to the program, department, university, and surrounding community. An interest in curriculum instruction and program development; student advisement; assisting with field practica, and collaboration with colleagues is also highly desired. Instructional responsibilities may include teaching graduate courses such as Practicum, Consultation in Counselor Education and Supervision, Counselor Education Pedagogy, and Trauma and Crisis Counseling. The Candidate must be willing to work evenings and some weekends.
