About The Position

The GES cluster is hiring a tenure-track faculty (open rank) with experience in working across disciplines and within interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary programs. Although the search would not be limited to these areas, we are particularly interested in applicants that have worked in the following intersectional domains: Artificial Intelligence and Biosecurity (ethical, legal, policy, or social dimensions) Genetics/Genomics (ethical/bioethical, legal, policy, or social dimensions) Novel Food Proteins and Sustainability (ethical, legal, policy, or social dimensions) These domains complement other interdisciplinary areas at NC State such as the AI & Society Center, the Genetics and Genomics Academy, North Carolina Plant Sciences Initiative, and the Bezos Center for Sustainable Proteins at NC State. However, we consider scholars working in other domains as well. We are also particularly interested in scholars with disciplinary training in the following areas: philosophy/ethics, history, science and technology studies, anthropology, and sociology. However, the search will consider scholars with training in other disciplines in the natural or social sciences, risk governance, or humanities. The new GES faculty member would be situated in a tenure home department in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Natural Resources, College of Sciences, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, or other appropriate college. They would contribute 50% of their time to their home department. The other 50% would be dedicated to teaching in the GES minor/certificate programs and/or the Genetics and Genomics Academy training programs, contributing to collaborative grant development for the GES Center, and serving on the GES Center's executive committee which sets strategy and program planning for the center. T/TT home department will be negotiated with the candidate based on the candidate's disciplinary experience and with the appropriate college dean and department chair at NC State.
