The Department of Information, Risk, and Operations Management (IROM) in the McCombs School of Business invites applications for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions in statistics to begin in August 2026. Applicants at any rank are welcome, and we especially encourage applications from candidates working in methodological areas relevant to business disciplines, including (but not limited to) causal inference, time series and panel data analysis, design (of experiments/quasi-experiments and surveys), missing data, privacy-preserving and federated data analysis, and their intersection with machine learning and AI. A demonstrated interest in applied work in any domain, while not required, is desirable. Statistics faculty in McCombs are an integral component of the research and teaching mission of IROM and of the College. The statistics group also has strong ties to the Statistics and Data Science Department in the College of Natural Sciences. As a leading research institution, UT Austin offers a vibrant intellectual environment with extensive cross-disciplinary collaboration possibilities. Current faculty have collaborative relationships across campus, including the Dell Medical School, College of Liberal Arts, and the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Faculty and students have access to world-class research infrastructure like the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), one of the leading supercomputing centers in the country. Candidates should have a doctoral degree in statistics, economics/econometrics, machine learning, computer science, or a related discipline by August 2026. Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) Candidates should demonstrate potential to establish an independent, impactful research agenda and to achieve excellence in teaching, mentoring, and service. Associate/Full Professor (Tenured) Candidates should have a well-established independent research program and demonstrated excellence across teaching, mentoring, and service. Applicants should submit a cover letter, a CV, and research and teaching statements. Applicants will also be asked to supply the names and email addresses of three individuals willing to provide letters of support. Candidates applying for a tenured position may decline to provide letters of support at the initial application stage. The department is committed to respecting the confidentiality of the search process. A background check will be conducted on applicants selected for the positions. Review of applications will begin on or around November 20, 2025 and will continue until the positions are filled or the search is closed. Questions about the search process should be directed to [email protected] (Prof. Jared Murray, search committee chair)
