About The Position

This is a tenure-track, 12-month position for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Social and Administrative Pharmacy in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at Ferris State University College of Pharmacy. We encourage individuals with a strong commitment to student-centered education and the teacher/scholar model to apply. Teaching responsibilities will include core courses in pharmacy administration at both the Big Rapids and Grand Rapids campuses. Candidates will also be expected to provide academic support and coordinate team-taught courses. Additionally, the successful candidate may teach an elective course in their area of expertise. Engagement in individual or collaborative research projects, as well as scholarship involving student participation, will complement teaching responsibilities. Other duties will include contributing to the department, college, university, and profession through participation on committees, as well as providing professional advice and mentoring to students. Ongoing professional development will also be expected. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. Tenure awarded at a previous institution is required to be hired at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The anticipated start date of this position is immediate.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy or ABD (all but dissertation) status in Social and Administrative Pharmacy, with expected completion by the start date.
  • Evidence of research related to area of specialty. Candidates with associate or full professor levels must demonstrate records of excellence in scholarship, including a principal investigator role in the research and funding experience. Assistant professor-level candidates are expected to demonstrate potential for establishing independent research or collaborative research.
  • Minimum five years teaching experience to include an award of tenure for rank of Associate Professor.
  • Minimum ten years teaching experience to include an award of tenure for rank of Full Professor.

  • Knowledge of ACPE accreditation standards and assessment strategies.
  • Ability and readiness to travel regionally or nationally for representation or presentations on behalf of the institution.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to drive with a good driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Management Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry or Health Care systems is preferred.
  • Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship is preferred.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to student-centered education, research, scholarship, and community service.
  • Ability to effectively teach a diverse student body and a dedication to promoting an inclusive culture within the institution.
  • Candidates who currently hold an advanced rank (Associate or Full Professor) at their institution are preferred. Alternatively, candidates should provide evidence of effective teaching and scholarly achievement through publications and research in their discipline.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, along with appropriate licensure, is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and coordinate courses in the core curriculum of the Pharm.D. program using effective instructional technology and teaching methods that focus on active student engagement, including team teaching environments. Candidate is expected to teach at both the Big Rapids and Grand Rapids campuses.
  • Teach and coordinate elective courses in areas of expertise.
  • Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development, assessment, and quality assurance of assigned coursework.
  • Maintain posted office hours that are convenient for students.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Engage in activity consistent with the teacher-scholar model, establishing an innovative, collaborative research program involving students.
  • Conduct research and publish in professional journals.
  • Operate university motor or personal vehicles safely while carrying out job responsibilities.
  • Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.
  • Support and promote university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
  • Serve on department, college, university, and professional committees.
  • Pursue service and professional development activities.
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical standards and confidentiality in all duties performed.
  • Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in university committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (i.e. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
  • Report directly to the Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences Department.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of designated information.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state and federal requirements.
  • Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
  • Advise students and assist with orientation and registration.
