About The Position

The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a tenure track neurologist interested in epilepsy to join our faculty. The position involves patient care, research and teaching. This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. Applicants for this position will be considered for the following titles: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under Key Job Responsibilities: Tenure track faculty contribute to missions through research, education, and service. Clinician faculty are expected to participate in clinical practice as part of the service mission. Clinical expectations could include activities up to 50% time; however, effort splits can vary depending on the individual’s area of interest. Teaching efforts would include participation or development of a unique or exceptional teaching program in a clinical or classroom setting, including but not limited to lectures, seminars, one-on-one clinical setting, program or course director, etc. Additional teaching responsibilities would include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows within the context of the candidate's clinical practice. Teach medical students, resident, and fellows. A substantial portion of time will be devoted to developing an extramurally funded research program. The candidate will join a team of research faculty and staff conducting cutting-edge research within a collaborative atmosphere. Clinical responsibilities include outpatient epilepsy clinics and may include general neurology resident clinics depending on department needs. When not outpatient attending, candidate will participate in IONM, epilepsy/EEG attending services UW Health Hospitals and Clinics, the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital and/or other affiliated regional locations. The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank and in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. Department: School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Neurology The Department of Neurology has over 65 faculty and 25 advanced practice providers located at 20 S. Park/Meriter Hospital, University of Wisconsin Hospitals and UW Health Clinics. This is a diverse group of generalists and specialists that provides primary, secondary, and tertiary inpatient and outpatient care. Requirements

  • Must have completed a neurology residency program.
  • Epilepsy, EEG, or clinical neurophysiology fellowship training or equivalent experience required.
  • Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in one of the following: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
  • Must have a WI medical license by the start date.
  • MD or DO or equivalent is required by the start date.

  • Candidates for Associate Professor or Professor must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the Tenure track.
