About The Position

Assist in the supervision of the operations and programs of the Indoor Pool at the High Blue Wellness Center and Memorial Park Outdoor Water Park for the Belton Parks and Recreation department. Also is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Manager in supervising water safety instructors, lifeguards, water aerobics instructors, and other part-time and seasonal staff as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years aquatic experience.
  • Must possess or have the ability to earn and maintain a lifeguard certification and LGI certification within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Supervises part-time and seasonal aquatic and recreation program staff.
  • Serves as the manager on duty in the absence of the aquatics manager.
  • Assists the Aquatics Manger with hiring, firing, disciplinary measures, and training part-time and seasonal aquatics staff at High Blue and the Memorial Park Outdoor Waterpark.
  • Assists the Aquatics Manager with day-to-day decision regarding Aquatics Operations including, but not limited to: Scheduling staff, scheduling Lead Lifeguards, appointing staff for chlorine checks, weather related delays/closures, when necessary, at the outdoor waterpark.
  • Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are performed to department standards.
  • Assists in maintaining harmony among workers and resolves grievances; performs or assists staff in performing duties; adjusts errors and complaints.
  • Provides supervision for aquatics special events as assigned by the Aquatics Manager.
  • Responds to public inquiries about aquatics programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings specifically related to aquatics.
  • Coordinates, schedules and maintains related records and statistics for programs and personnel.
  • Promotes and markets aquatic programs and special events to the general public including print and social marking to achieve maximum operating economies.
  • Monitors pool equipment conditions and oversees repairs needed to ensure a safe aquatic environment.
  • Inventories aquatics equipment once monthly and reports to the Aquatics Manager.
  • Performs other assigned duties as directed by the Aquatics Manager.
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering phone, typing correspondence, running errands, and returning emails as necessary.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as needed.
  • Maintain a professional image in the community.
  • Instructs swimming classes and lifeguards as needed
