About The Position

Building Services 32BJ Benefit Funds ("the Funds") is the umbrella organization responsible for administering Health, Pension, Retirement Savings, Training, and Legal Services benefits to over 185,000 SEIU 32BJ members. Their mission is to make significant contributions to the lives of their members by providing high quality benefits and services, embodying core values of Flexibility, Initiative, Respect, Sustainability, and Teamwork (FIRST). The Funds oversees and manages $9 billion in assets from various sources, requiring highly skilled financial management. They are committed to driving innovation, equity, and technology insights, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as M365, Dynamics 365 CRM, Dynamics 365 F&O, Azure, AWS, SQL, Snowflake, and QlikView. Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Retirement Services Operations, the Assistant Analyst is responsible for processing pension administration transactions for retired members of various pension plans, including determining pension eligibility and processing pension applications in compliance with Plan documents and the law.

Requirements

  • College graduate with Accounting or Math related degree or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate pension benefits for new retirees and estimated projected benefits for future retirees.
  • Analyze and process pension applications for completeness and accuracy; draft follow-up correspondence as needed.
  • Perform banking transactions, including but not limited to pension check stop/reissues and voids.
  • Work with third party vendors to collect data on deceased pensioners, update system accordingly with findings, and process bank reclaims for overpaid benefits.
  • Track pension overpayments on a plan-by-plan basis and enforce overpayment recoupment policies.
  • Reinstate suspended pensioner accounts after validating documentation as per plan rules.
  • Validate work history and prior service records to calculate pension service credits.
  • Perform data entry.
  • Complete standardized written member communications.
  • Assist Retirement Analysts and CARE Counselors as needed with administrative and analytical pension calculations.
  • Special projects as assigned by management.
