Service Credit Union is seeking an Asset Recovery Specialist where you will provide member, back-office and vendor support in a fast-paced environment that includes both incoming and outgoing correspondence via phone, email, and mail. They will be responsible for an assigned queue of accounts for which they will monitor and note repossession action sale and/or redemption of collateralized loans. In addition to this, the Asset Recovery Specialist will maintain a portfolio of collateral deemed to be a total loss and follow for both GAP claim proceeds and dealer reimbursements. They will handle incoming correspondence via a variety of mediums and provide assistance and guidance to members, Contact Center, Branch, back-office and third parties on a wide range of topics which include, but are not limited to: bids, fee approvals, title issues and outstanding claims. They will process checks and be responsible for maintaining a variety of reports. The Specialist will be expected to become familiar with several different systems and processes as well as adhere to the department’s service level agreements and production goals and will work closely with other areas of the Resolution & Recovery team. Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient with Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power point, and various web-based applications required.
  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Previous collection/recovery experience preferred
  • Service Credit Union and its employees are required by federal regulations to comply with anti-money laundering laws and initiatives, including the Bank Secrecy Act and regulations promulgated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Training will be provided to all credit union employees on compliance with these regulations.
  • As a condition of employment, all employees must certify that they have received the training provided by Service Credit Union and understand that they are required to comply as a condition of employment with these regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all repossession records from assignment to sale which includes preparing all packages for sale of vehicle.
  • Handle vehicle transport assignments
  • Update and maintain daily and month-end repossession reports.
  • Pay repossession invoices and post proceeds from both repo sales and various claims and dealer reimbursements.
  • Analyze condition reports and current used/auction markets to set floor price and review/decision bids for sale of repossessed collateral.
  • Obtain condition reports.
  • File for and follow up on title issues to allow for the swift remarketing of collateral.
  • Maintain a total loss portfolio of accounts which will include filing GAP claims and following for back-end refunds.
  • Correspondence with members regarding balances remaining which includes, but is not limited to: recommending further collection action and/or making in-house payment arrangements
  • Thorough review of all invoices received to ensure payment is appropriate; determining where invoices will be paid from
  • Recommendation for charge-off when appropriate on both repossession and total loss loans
  • Provide back-up support to the Insurance Specialists
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding credit union policies and procedures, member financial data, personal information, and work-related events.
  • Provide quality support and maintain a professional relationship with peers, management, other staff, and members through cooperation, mutual trust, and respect.
  • Perform other duties as required.
