About The Position

Sixth Street, a leading global investment firm dedicated to developing innovative investment strategies and fostering growth across various stages of business, is seeking a Vice President for its market leading Asset Based Finance team. The Sixth Street Asset Based Finance group is at the forefront of asset/platform investing and origination, working across diverse financial markets, including residential and commercial mortgages, consumer assets, commercial equipment, renewables and energy finance, infrastructure debt and transportation. The Asset Based Finance team is a critical strategic capital partner and investor to companies and management teams and a solutions provider at scale. This is a full-time Investing Vice President role based in New York. As a Vice President on the Asset Based Finance team, you will be responsible for analyzing, underwriting, executing, and managing structured finance transactions across asset classes.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of proven relevant investing experience within an Asset Backed Finance group at an asset manager, insurance company, hedge fund, or other investment office
  • Familiarity with residential asset classes
  • Experience underwriting, structuring, and reviewing mortgage-backed securitizations, credit facilities, loan purchases, and other relevant transactions
  • Experience and comfort negotiating legal documents for various mortgage-backed transaction structures
  • Superior valuation, modeling, and Excel skills evaluating financial assets
  • Strong accounting, finance, modeling, and problem-solving skills
  • Well versed utilizing systems such as Excel, PowerPoint, CAS, Intex, and others
  • Self-starter who requires little direction
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at various levels
  • Structured problem solver who is able to synthesize sophisticated information from a variety of sources into implementable recommendations and solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills
  • Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment

Responsibilities

  • Managing deal process from sourcing to post-close, including originating transactions, constructing economic terms, and negotiating with counterparties
  • Evaluating investment opportunities across Non-QM / DSCR, 2nd Liens / HELOCs, Investor, MSR, Bridge, Manufactured Housing, and other residential asset classes
  • Modeling cash flows and structures for whole loans, securitizations, equity in warehouses, senior / mezzanine warehouse lending, and other private residential investment forms
  • Preparing and presenting due diligence materials, screenings, and investment committee memos
  • Ongoing monitoring of portfolio performance and quarterly valuation of investments
