About The Position

Performs a variety of professional, technical, and administrative tasks in developing and administering high quality assessments and correlating resources, including Interim and Unit Assessments. Leads the development of an assigned set of District assessments. Interprets public school rules, laws, and policies regarding assessment. Trains school personnel in the proper administration and creation of common assessments and analysis of data. Interprets changes to District curriculum and Colorado/national standards, ensuring that assessments and resources are aligned and that teachers and principals are informed of the implications of any changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
  • Three (3) years knowledge of and experience working with Colorado Academic Standards and/or Common Core State Standards.
  • Three (3) years of experience in item development (constructed response, selected response and performance based tasks), assessment creation, rubric development, and item analysis.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License, appropriate insurance coverage, and acceptable driving record for the past three years.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Informs and supports district leadership in executing a cohesive assessment strategy, ensuring data disaggregation and communication align with the district’s vision.
  • Designs and delivers training for educators on assessment literacy, ethical administration, and the use of data to drive instructional improvement.
  • Supports schools and central office in interpreting results and linking findings directly to curriculum and classroom instruction.
  • Develops and catalogs high quality assessment items for the district’s item bank to accurately measure student knowledge and skills.
  • Conducts technical analyses, including Item Response Theory (IRT), to ensure the validity, reliability, and rigor of all assessment items.
  • Manages the district’s online item banking and delivery systems to provide electronic assessments and real time results.
  • Partners with departments to manage assessment projects, generate comprehensive reports, and deliver presentations to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Uses assessment data to work with district staff to identify specific academic strengths and target areas for growth.
  • Models assessments after Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) state standards in partnership with accredited organizations like Cognia to prepare students for state testing.
  • Collaborates with outside vendors and network staff to improve assessment products.
