About The Position

Job Opportunity: Assessment & Authorization Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems Position Overview: Join our team to support mission-critical systems that ensure security and compliance. As an Assessment & Authorization Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining the secure configuration of systems through continuous monitoring and interfacing with government security entities. Your work will help safeguard vital information systems, ensuring they meet rigorous standards and contribute to national security.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related Science, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
  • CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire with ability to obtain a Polygraph within a reasonable amount of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Understanding of ICD 503 and DoD JSIG requirements.
  • Experience in security accreditation and documentation.
  • Proficiency in security testing and assessments.
  • Ability to develop and enforce security policies.
  • Skills in vulnerability scanning and continuous monitoring.
  • Effective communication with security managers and program managers.
  • A minimum of an IAT Level II (DoD 8570/8140.01) certification at the time of hire: e.g., CompTIA Security+, GSEC, SSCP, and CCNA-Security.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure systems comply with ICD 503 and DoD JSIG requirements.
  • Manage security accreditation of networks and systems.
  • Create and maintain documentation for external connections (ISAs, ATOs, IATTs, MOAs, MOUs).
  • Conduct security testing of system patches, software, and configurations.
  • Develop and enforce security policies with Program Office and Government guidance.
  • Conduct security assessments for system upgrades and patches.
  • Generate and update A&A documentation and artifacts.
  • Perform vulnerability scans and continuous monitoring.
  • Provide first-level incident reporting and evaluate IAVM reports.
  • Interface with the customer Information System Security Manager.
  • Offer cybersecurity input to Project and Program Managers.
