About The Position
Vera French Community Mental Health Center is seeking a compassionate and driven Registered Nurse to join their Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. This dynamic, community-based program focuses on meeting clients where they are to help them thrive. As an ACT Nurse, the role involves providing direct care in the community, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs in building independence, stability, and meaningful connections. The position is full-time, first-shift, with rotating on-call responsibilities, and offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on clients' lives daily.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Minimum six months of psychiatric nursing experience
- Current Iowa RN license
- Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug, and alcohol screening
Nice To Haves
- ANCC Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (Generalist) certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing services, case management, and supportive counseling
- Monitor, administer, and educate clients about medications
- Review lab results and collaborate with the team prescriber
- Assess physical health needs and coordinate appropriate referrals
- Teach independent living skills
- Help clients access housing, employment, and community resources
- Support clients in building strong, sustainable community networks
