About The Position

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling and manufacturing Original Equipment sold into the waste recycling industry. This role plays a vital part in the assembly of electrical components, contributing to the development of cutting-edge projects. This position primarily uses hands as well as hand and power tools for mechanical assembly methods, wiring and electrical component installation, pneumatic components, as well as systems testing and factory acceptance testing. This position also performs soldering and minor circuit board assembly. This position completes assigned work through using measuring equipment such as tape measure, scale, hands-on training, schematics, drawings, SOPs, and verbal instructions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Related training or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in mechanical or manufacturing assembly and sub-assembly of components that range from simple to complex required
  • Print reading and basic math skills as well as the ability to use hand and power tools required
  • Must be assertive, self-starter and work autonomously as an individual or in a group.
  • Honesty, willingness to learn
  • Punctuality, good attendance

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in electronics or electrical assembly is highly desired; or demonstrates interest in such a certification is a plus.
  • Experience working electro-mechanical assembly and sub-assembly a plus
  • Experience operating other equipment including band saw, drill press, and forklift a plus.
  • Experience utilizing computers and other devices such as cameras a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles various elements of optical sorting equipment according to work-ticket, CAD drawings, pictograms, verbal, and written directions, from sub-assemblies to whole machine.
  • Works with, builds and constructs pneumatic valve component assemblies and ejection sub-assemblies.
  • Works with, builds and constructs wire assemblies and wire routings. Installs wire harnesses and assemblies into wire ways or conduit. Terminates wires and wire assemblies.
  • Reads and understands , schematics, and test equipment as well as volt meters to diagnose and solve issues.
  • Solders and assembles basic components onto circuit boards.
  • Operates power tools such as hand saws, drills, drill press, band saw and air tools. Demonstrates competence as work accomplished with various tool.
  • Utilizes manual hand tools such as screwdriver, pliers, wrenches and pipe wrenches, rivet pliers, soldering equipment, cutting devices. etc.
  • Utilizes (reads and understands) tape measures, rulers, squares, other basic measuring devices.
  • Performs testing of components and assemblies, as well as self-monitors work to maintain quality standards.
  • Executes on instructions for completing tasks on time, in full, and to quality standards.
  • Ensures workstation, tools and toolbox are clean and maintained.
  • Cleans machines in preparation for shipment to customer location.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
