About The Position

As an Assembly Shop Inspector at RAM, you ensure the quality and precision of aerospace components through detailed visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections. Using tools like CMM machines and precision instruments, you verify that parts meet strict specifications at every stage—from first article to final test. Your work helps maintain the safety, reliability, and performance of mission-critical systems in aviation, space, and defense.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in operation of a computer and using Microsoft word, excel, and outlook and ability to stay organized
  • Ability to multi-task with limited supervision and ability to handle frequent interruptions
  • Good communication skills while interfacing with other departments and individuals
  • Ability to maintain quality requirements while remaining efficient
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001/ AS9100, statistical process and KAIZAN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • GD&T interpretation of drawing, analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment, and certification methods, and measuring instruments.
  • Inspect, test, or measure manufactured or final level products for conformance to all requirements and specifications. Reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting the requirements.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Mark items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Compare colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
  • Write inspection reports describing results, recommendations, and needed repairs.
  • Read dials and meters to verify that equipment is functioning at specified levels.
  • Adjust, clean, or repair products or processing equipment to correct defects found during inspections.
  • Set controls, start, and monitor machines that automatically measure, sort, or inspect products.
  • Use numerous types of precision handheld inspection tools and instruments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
