About The Position

Assembly Manager Job Description Position Summary: Assembly Manager Our Batavia location is hiring an LPIM/PET Assembly Manager. This role is responsible for leading assembly teams, ensuring product quality, driving process improvements, and meeting production targets safely and efficiently. The Assembly Manager collaborates closely with engineering, supply chain, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure on‑time, high‑quality output. This position also manages the R&R department order completions.Work You’ll Do: Foster a positive, safe, and high‑performance work environment. Ensure compliance with all safety policies and code of ethics. Manage day‑to‑day assembly operations ensuring adherence to build instructions and specifications. Manage production schedule. Monitoring for any schedule slippage. Supervise and develop assembly technicians, leads, and support staff. Provide coaching, training, performance feedback, and conduct evaluations. Support team members to meet or exceed yearly company and individual goals. Monitor production metrics including Rework, Utilization, Efficiency and Productivity. Lead daily production startup meetings setting daily and weekly expectations. Implement Lean Manufacturing practices such as 5S, standardized work, visual management, and waste reduction. Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to reduce cycle time and increase efficiency. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineer to refine assembly instructions, tooling, fixtures, and equipment layouts. Work with Materials and Supply Chain teams to ensure component availability and resolve shortages. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by participating in design reviews and pilot builds.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate personal leadership; actively participate in or lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to consistently run safe, efficient, and predictable operations while meeting cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Demonstrate flexibility when confronted with high stress / emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments.
  • Making timely, well-reasoned decisions in fast‑paced environments with incomplete information while balancing risk and impact.
  • Understanding assembly processes, equipment, tooling, drawings, and manufacturing systems well enough to guide decision-making and support teams effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical assembly.
  • Strong understanding of 5S & Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
  • Recommend improvements for work area, products, and processes.
  • Perform prototype work with limited Engineering and minimal supervision.
