Requirements

  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
  • Knowledge of the material quality standards.
  • Knowledge of computer sufficient to enter data into the system.
  • Ability to identify patterns and finishes.
  • Ability to operate a lift truck and lowboy.
  • Skill in hand-and-eye coordination.
  • Ability to operate cut down table.
  • Lay up material at an adequate pace. (100+ Sheets per hour)
  • Ability to use a tape measure.
  • High Scholl Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of work experience

Responsibilities

  • Obtains daily work assignments from Team Lead to determine what runs to assemble.
  • Evaluates the run press schedule for material and special lay-up needs.
  • Audit materials prior to laying up to ensure all materials are available to assemble.
  • Obtains lay-up material for the run from the pattern pullers, super cutter or sheeting.
  • Helps with cutting down larger size paper at the cut down table as needed.
  • Vacuums or brushes off the table before the material is assembled.
  • Lays up the material according to the assigned lay-up schedule.
  • Count and verify the patterns of each run delivered to the press.
  • Monitors for defects in the paper or overlay and verifies length and width of all material laid-up.
  • Submits request forms for material.
  • Vacuums and covers the completed run.
  • Guides the new lay-up team members in reading the schedules, identifying patterns, identifying defective material, cutting down material, obtaining all material, and satisfying all the needs at the press after initial onboarding training.
  • Completes all paperwork and computer functions required for each lay-up.
  • Participates in the Lean and Safety process.
  • Utilize puller screens and pattern Identification screens to look up material and verify runs
  • Ensure oncoming shift is set-up to start -up without delay.
  • Assists in Laying up special products
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
