As an Assembly and Test Specialist for East Peoria Undercarriage at Caterpi llar Inc., you will continuously improve process efficiency by performing routine assembly and testing of assemblies of our prime product. Starting pay for this role is $ 23.22/hour. Additional Information: This is a full-time supplemental position This is a 2 nd shift position, Mon – Fri 3pm -11pm Located in East Peoria , I L ( 701 W. Washington St East Pe oria, IL 61630 ) Relocation assistance is not offered for this position Candidates must be able to read, write and conduct business in English Ability to work overtime when Caterpillar will train applicants who have a strong employment history and work ethic

Requirements

  • Safety: Conducts daily maintenance and keeps track of safety logs on equipment. Inspects working environment to promote safe work area. Utilizes personal protective equipment or recommended for ta sk at hand. Speak up if safety concerns are encountered . Take personal accountability for safety.
  • Knowledge of 5S Housekeeping concepts to keep a safe and clean manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing Processes: Documents relevant standards, policies and practices. Follows standard manufacturing processes to conduct production activities. Basic understanding of computers to perform simple computer tasks and operations.
  • Mechanical/Machinery: Uses/ operates and maintains complex tools and machinery. Understands how to use, operate , and maint ain various equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Collaboration: Work together as a team to help each other learn and meet shared goals. Come to work with a positive attitude and ideas for continuous improvement. Strong attendance is key in order to collaborate effectively as a team.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Responsible for inventory accuracy. Learn from mistakes and apply lessons learned. Uses checklists to ensure that information goes out error-free. The ability to properly perform quality checks; Focus on accuracy to provide our customers with the best possible experience.
  • Effective Communications: Uses verbal and non-verbal communication to receive direction and share ideas and job-related needs. Always demonstrate effective communication with a professional demeanor. Maintains focus on the topic at hand with a team-oriented outlook.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds individually, or up to 70 pounds as a team lift, and work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures.
  • Work at heights of up to 30 feet from the ground.
  • Push/pull product weighing up to 50 pounds for intervals of 10-15 minutes.
  • Climb on and off order picker, reach truck and/or sit-down forklifts multiple times per day.
  • Walk, squat and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Stand up to 8+ hours per day on concrete floor with or without limited movement.
  • Climb up and down ladders of 6 feet with handrails and work in an environment with noise levels averaging up to 85 db per 8 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble , test, rework and repai r machine components
  • Operate test machines to test final drive assemblies
  • Prepare prime products and attachments for shipping
  • Performs required salvage operations in assembly areas as necessary
  • Disassemble and reassemble complex assemblies to repair or replace damaged c omponent parts.
  • May o perate remote control crane to specially equipped vehicles to transport prime product
