The position of Assembler will be responsible for taking drawings, blueprints or verbal instructions to build assemblies, fabrications, and test equipment as directed by shop management. Assemblers are required to use various types of conventional machine tools, precision measurement tools, and various hand tools to accomplish their task.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written instructions.
  • Must know assembly, bonding, composite materials, riveting, and other processes associated with tool shop jobs
  • Knowledge of flight hardware, tooling and ground support
  • Advanced math skills (Algebra, Trigonometry, GD&T Math)
  • Set up and operate band saws, milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, hoist/crane equipment, etc.
  • Knowledge in use of hand tools (drill motors, grinders, basic measurement Instruments, etc.)
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing from 15 to 50 pounds.
  • Minimum six years’ experience as Assembler; including prior experience in Aerospace/Manufacturing setting.
  • Requires the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • This position requires the use of information or access to hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by ITAR.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision including using sound judgment to execute independent decisions and departmental initiatives.
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.

  • Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to change.

Responsibilities

  • The ability to fabricate and build assemblies.
  • Accurately and efficiently assembles/tests products to achieve customer quality and on-time delivery schedules.
  • Interpret complicated aerospace drawings and specifications.
  • Use various types of fabrication equipment, conventional machine tools, precision measurement tools, and various hand tools.
  • Understanding of assembly, bonding, riveting, and other processes associated with tool shop jobs.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Performs basic assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Performs touch-up or full surface painting of parts with finishing materials such as paint, lacquer, glaze etc. Mixes paint and clean parts.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
