Position Summary The Sander is responsible for preparing vehicle surfaces for priming, painting, and finishing by sanding and smoothing panels, body components, and parts. This role ensures all surfaces are properly prepared to achieve a superior finish and meet company quality standards before moving to the next stage of production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in automotive, RV, or related sanding or surface preparation roles strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of sanding tools, abrasives, and surface preparation techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality finishes.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Sand and smooth vehicle surfaces, parts, and panels using hand and power sanding tools.
  • Prepare substrates for primer and paint applications to ensure strong adhesion and quality finishes.
  • Inspect work areas and components to identify imperfections, scratches, or inconsistencies.
  • Perform surface cleaning and masking as required prior to application.
  • Maintain sanding tools, pads, and abrasive materials in good working condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including the use of PPE and proper handling of materials.
  • Report any surface defects, material issues, or rework needs to the Supervisor or Quality team.
  • Work collaboratively with Paint, Prep, and Production teams to meet production goals and quality expectations.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and 5S standards.
