About The Position

Milford Mining Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college student to join our Assay Lab team for the summer. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced mining laboratory, where you'll support the analysis of ore, process samples, and environmental monitoring, contributing directly to daily operations and decision-making across the site. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related science field
  • Completion of introductory chemistry or laboratory coursework preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow precise procedures
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Good communication skills and a strong work ethic
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and wear PPE in accordance with safety protocols
  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for chemistry
  • Passion for learning, and a willingness to think outside the box.
  • Be a highly motivated self-starter
  • Ability to work as part of a team with people from both within and outside the lab.
  • Be able to communicate effectively, and possess time-management and organizational skills
  • Understanding of the importance of operational discipline and following instructions

Responsibilities

  • Assist with sample preparation (drying, crushing, pulverizing) in accordance with lab protocols
  • Support wet chemistry and instrumental analysis (e.g., AAS, ICP) under supervision
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate lab records
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment
  • Learn and apply standard operating procedures for assay workflows
  • Participate in QA/QC procedures, including handling of blanks, duplicates, and standards
  • Work collaboratively with geologists, metallurgists, and lab technicians
