Asphalt Plant Laborer/Groundman for Portable Asphalt Operations in IA and NE
About The Position
Western Engineering Co Inc is looking for a laborer/groundman to join our team for our portable asphalt operations in Iowa and Nebraska. In this role, you will be the eyes and the ears of the asphalt plant while ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. You’ll have the chance to work with cutting-edge equipment and collaborate with an amazing team. We’re seeking a mechanically inclined individual with a passion for production and a commitment to safety. Requirements
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate equipment
- General knowledge of the construction industry
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to different job sites in Iowa and Nebraska
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards
- Pass pre-employment drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Daily maintenance and servicing of the portable asphalt plant to ensure efficient production and high-quality output
- Unloading of AC (asphalt cement) trucks in a safe and efficient manner
- Conduct regular inspections of the equipment, diagnosing issues and ensuring it is safe and ready to run
- Work closely with plant crew to quickly repair plant equipment and minimize downtime
- Operate skid loader as needed for cleaning around the plant
- Assist in the teardown and setup of the portable asphalt plant when moving to different jobsite locations
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team
- Participate in training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge about asphalt operations
