About The Position
Grade A Construction is a leading civil/site contractor in Middle Tennessee specializing in grading, utilities, paving, and concrete. We self-perform the majority of our work with experienced crews, a strong equipment fleet, and a reputation for executing at a high level. We’re not just bidding work—we’re building it. We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in asphalt paving and site concrete. This role is for someone who understands production, sequencing, and jobsite realities—and can confidently price both trades as part of larger civil/site projects.
Requirements
- 5+ years estimating asphalt, concrete, or civil/site work
- Strong understanding of: Asphalt paving operations (plant, trucking, laydown, compaction) Concrete placement production and sequencing
- Experience with: AGTEK, HeavyBid, or similar software
- Ability to read plans and visualize the full build
- Detail-oriented with a competitive mindset
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for: Asphalt paving (binder, surface, base, patching) Curb & gutter, sidewalks, and flatwork Slabs and light structural concrete
- Perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
- Build production-based estimates including: Labor Equipment Crew compositions Haul logistics
- Develop and maintain unit pricing and cost history
- Work with operations to validate production rates and means/methods
- Identify risks, gaps, and value engineering opportunities
- Assist in bid strategy on competitive projects
