Summary: ATS is seeking an ASNT Level III VT/MT Technicians for shipyard contract assignment to support our Chesapeake, VA office. Part-time (full time hours in contract assignment) to start. Full time eligible (health benefits/401K and more) after six months of continuous work with no at-fault safety or disciplinary issues. Competitive pay and per diem offered for out of area candidates, during initial part time (full time hours in contract assignment) phase expected to last six months. This is NOT A DESK JOB. Hands-on crawling around the Navy's newest submarines. You will get dirty and you will work 84 hour weeks.

Requirements

  • Level III Technician – Meet the minimum requirements of a Level III Technician; provide documentation of education, training, and experience in MT and VT, at minimum; have a working knowledge of industrial environments and general manufacturing processes; ability to effectively communicate with other departments, and customers to report issues and solve problems.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  • Applicants must pass a drug screen and have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a required extensive background check for access to the shipyard.

Nice To Haves

  • NAVSEA and/or shipyard work experience a plus.
  • Additional NDT certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Level III Technician Experience teaching classes, administering written and practical exams, and maintaining certifications.
  • Perform examinations of materials in accordance with procedures, codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which qualified and exercise assigned responsibility for OJT and guidance of trainees
  • Interface with department managers and clients to determine scope of work and work priorities in order to meet customer expectations.
  • Be able to prepare written instructions and to organize and report the results of examinations.
  • Work independently and support team members
  • Perform other job related tasks as needed and assigned by supervisors.
