About The Position

The ASC Technician is accountable for the quality of nursing care provided to patients in an endoscopy or pain management setting under the monitoring of a licensed RN or physician.

Requirements

  • Previous endoscopy experience desired if working in endoscopy setting
  • Previous endoscope processing experience preferred.
  • Pain Clinic department or office setting experience will be considered for that role.
  • Understanding of aseptic technique and infection control processes
  • CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
  • Obtain Olympus Endoscope Processing Certification within 90 days of hire, if hired for GI Department, with required ongoing CEU’s.
  • Graduate from an OR technician program or equivalent training preferred
  • Must possess good physical health.
  • Must maintain professional behavior.
  • Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.
  • Must be able to adjust to various personalities and situations.
  • Must possess manual dexterity to sue keyboard and handle equipment and appliances.
  • Must be capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, and lifting.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must appear well groomed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician and/or registered nurse during procedures for optimal patient outcome by team collaboration and anticipation of procedural steps.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
  • Clean equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Process all types of department endoscopes according to manufacturer’s guidelines, if working in GI Department.
  • Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as: GI Procedure: video/processing, computer, cautery, APC, Provation Scope Processing: Automatic scope flush, Scope processing/HLD equipment, Automatic Scope Cabinet Pain Clinic: RFA Generator, pain table, C-arm set up only
  • Performs scope room equipment maintenance such as changing filters, running diagnostics, filling detergent and HLD levels, and alerting leadership of fault notifications for repair needs.
  • Documents all procedures in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and ASC policy.
  • Performs opening and closing routines for the procedure and scope rooms.
  • Maintains aseptic technique, adheres to infection control standards, documents endoscope processing records meticulously in accordance with department policy, participates in QA activities to ensure infection control and safety standards are met at all times
  • Obtain, prepare and verify patient specimens to ensure pathology has the correct patient information; performs CLO tests as directed by physician
  • Maintain efficiency through establishing priorities and organization.
  • Restock supplies as indicated daily.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Must complete annual competencies for specific working areas within designated timeframe.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
