For proof, look no further than our strong working relationships and extraordinary workforce. We are seeking an Asbestos Worker for a position in the Hopewell, VA area. This position removes asbestos containing materials (ACM) from, but not limited to, boilers, pipes, tanks, vessels, exchangers, columns, floor tiles and proofing.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Basic Insulation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of asbestos decontamination process
  • Must have Asbestos Abatement Worker certification for state of IL
  • Written pre-employment qualification test
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Hazard Communication orientation/test
  • Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination
  • OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87)
  • Job site orientation
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, written and/or verbal orders
  • Estimates worker-hours and materials required to complete the job
  • Assigns duties, lines up and follows up all work and is responsible for production of the unit
  • Inspects work to ensure adherence to company standards
  • Trains and assists workers in the performance of their duties
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of assigned construction workers
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel
  • Analyzes and resolves work related problems
  • Implements project safety programs
  • May maintain time, production, and other records
  • May study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job
  • May make cost estimates for contracts
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
