HII Mission Technologies is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to support Joint Staff J7, Joint Wargaming & Experimentation Division (JWED) as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) subject matter expert to support JWED and wargaming/experimentation at the Joint Staff J-7 in Suffolk, Virginia. The AI SME will assist in analyzing, designing, evaluating, integrating, and planning the optimal technical and operational approach to incorporate existing and new AI-related tools to support the Global Integrated Wargame (GIWG) and experiments. This individual will also be responsible for looking broadly across the enterprise to discover and apply available tools and find efficiencies to integrate into wargames and experiments. One must possess strong interpersonal skills and enjoy providing support to a high visibility, fast-paced military training organization. The position will entail providing on-site support at the Joint Staff Suffolk, Virginia campus.

  • Brings an innovative approach to incorporate existing and new AI tools for wargaming and experimentation.
  • Takes initiative to regularly evaluate processes and best practices to assess and recommend solutions for the Government customer.
  • Provides analysis, recommendations, and develops solutions that can be maintained routinely by division personnel.
  • Optimizes 'out of the box' capabilities related to AI and wargaming.
  • Promotes AI tool integration and provides desk side, non-technical assistance, familiarity training, implementation and use of best practices.
  • Have and demonstrate a strong understanding of military writing and style.
  • Work with tools and in work environments from unclassified to Top Secret levels (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS).
  • Utilize and have a proficiency with groupware applications (e.g. Sharepoint, MS Teams, PowerApps development) and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. MSWord, Power Point, Excel, etc.)
  • Demonstrate proficiency and expertise with AI tools and applications.
  • Travel up to 15% in support of JWED priorities.
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Client requirements: 6 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 4 years relevant experience with a Masters or Juris Doctorate in a related field; or 12 years relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience with AI-related technologies.
  • Must have and be able to maintain an active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with military wargaming and experimentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness and ability to travel CONUS (up to 15%).
