About The Position

LISA West Elementary is seeking a highly creative, driven Art Teacher (K–5) who understands that art is a critical part of the overall school experience, culture, and student retention in a charter environment. This is not a passive role—this position requires initiative, vision, and strong creative talent. We are looking for someone who will bring energy to our building, showcase student talent, and actively contribute to making our school a place families choose to stay. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Art Teacher (K–5) will teach art to all elementary grade levels (Kindergarten through 5th grade) and facilitate student growth in creativity, artistic skills, and expression. The teacher will create a safe, structured, and engaging environment while providing meaningful feedback to students, families, and administration. At LISA West, the Art Teacher is not just teaching a class—this role helps shape the identity of the school, increase student engagement, and strengthen family connection and retention. If you are creative, driven, and ready to make an impact, we want you on our team.

Requirements

  • Strong creative ability and passion for art education
  • Someone who takes initiative and ownership —not someone who waits to be told what to do
  • Ability to think outside the box and bring fresh ideas
  • A team player who understands they are part of a larger mission and vision
  • Commitment to student excellence, engagement, and school culture

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a high-quality K–5 art program aligned to school goals
  • Take full ownership of the visual culture of the building (hallway displays, showcases, events)
  • Ensure student artwork is visible, celebrated, and contributes to a positive school environment
  • Teach art to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade
  • Develop engaging lesson plans that build skills across multiple art forms (drawing, painting, mixed media, etc.)
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including SPED and diverse learners
  • Maintain a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment
  • Plan and execute a minimum of TWO major art events per year (ex: Art Shows, Exhibits, Family Art Nights)
  • Create opportunities for students to present and explain their work
  • Communicate with families to increase engagement and visibility of the arts program
  • Actively seek out and submit student work to art contests and competitions
  • Bring in or connect to external art opportunities, partnerships, or experiences when possible
  • Lead TWO days of after-school art clubs per week (teacher-designed and student-centered)
  • Use clubs to expand creativity, deepen skills, and build student interest
  • Maintain accurate records for student progress and participation
  • Collaborate with staff and contribute to school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in professional development and school meetings
  • Uphold school expectations for student behavior, safety, and accountability
