About The Position

Under general supervision, the Art Program Leader supports a range of duties related to planning, coordinating, and delivering programs and services at the City of Lancaster’s MOAH: CEDAR campus. This role contributes to daily campus operations, assists with the weekly schedule of public programs, and helps activate and maintain the MOAH: CEDAR galleries’ ongoing, community-focused exhibitions. The Art Program Leader – MOAH: CEDAR supports a dynamic exhibitions and events program across multiple arts and museums facilities. Art Program Leaders work an average of 18 hours per week and must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes work nights and weekends.

  • Must be able to work approximately 18 hours a week, which includes weekends and some evenings.
  • Must be well organized, highly motivated, and possess good writing, typing, speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate a variety of duties related to assigned project.
  • Ability to assist in organizing and implementing cultural activities.
  • Ability to perform clerical functions; observe safety principles and work in a safe manner.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or an interest in, and appreciation of, the visual arts and history is preferred.
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable.
  • Spanish language fluency is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, organization, and facilitation of MOAH: CEDAR’s specialized programs including but not limited to Spotlight Café Open Mic Night, Concert Series, Zine Workshops and Social, Board Game Café, Movie Nights, Live Figure Drawing Sessions, and other special events.
  • Guide regular exhibition tours and hosts specialized workshops.
  • Organize and staff community outreach events taking place across Los Angeles County and beyond.
  • Write educational materials, including but not limited to, tour scripts, project proposals, educational resources, and website text.
  • Work with community stakeholders, such as artists, collectives, or other community-based organizations to deliver MOAH: CEDAR’s programs.
  • Set up and tear down of special events.
  • Maintain clean and organized facilities.
  • Perform related duties as required.
