About The Position

The Art Gallery Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the Wege Gallery Director in all aspects of planning, promoting, and installing art exhibitions. This hands-on opportunity offers students the chance to work closely with exhibiting artists, gain valuable skills in exhibition production, and engage directly with the MIU community and general public. Requirements

• Proficiency and professionalism in email communication and word processing programs.
• Interest in or experience with art making and exhibiting art.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to use basic power tools safely and effectively, and/or demonstrate a willingness to learn.
• High dependability, on-time, reliable, motivated, complete tasks and can problem solve.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Gallery Director in installing and mounting art exhibitions.
• Assist in promoting exhibitions to the MIU community through various channels.
• Assist with the coordination of public gallery programs and events.
• Lead student programs within the gallery space, fostering engagement and participation.
• Maintain and create gallery reports and documents as needed.
• Conduct tours of exhibitions for community groups and engage with visitors about the artwork.
• Working occasional evening weekend events per exhibition.
