About The Position

We’re looking for an Art Director who can bring fresh, strategic, creator-centric storytelling to life. This role blends high-level concepting with hands-on design and execution. You’ll lead across campaigns, social content, creator stories, product launches, and brand moments that celebrate and amplify the diverse creators who use Patreon. You are part brand guardian, part storyteller, part maker — with a sharp eye for craft and a deep respect for the creativity of others

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in design, art direction, creative direction, or similar roles—agency or in-house.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong concepting skills, systems thinking, visual storytelling, and graphic design craft.
  • Experience directing photography and/or video content.
  • Ability to lead creative from ideation through production, including hands-on design when needed.
  • Comfort working across both big brand campaigns and fast-moving content production.
  • Passion for supporting creator communities and amplifying diverse artistic expression.
  • Collaborative spirit and strong communication skills — someone who elevates work through feedback and partnership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in tech, entertainment, or creator-focused brands.
  • Motion graphics/animation skills.
  • Knowledge of social native formats and visual trends.

Responsibilities

  • Concept and develop ideas that celebrate creators and bring Patreon's brand to life across integrated campaigns, digital content, video, events, and partnerships.
  • Translate high-level strategy into compelling creative directions, mood boards, visual systems, and executions.
  • Lead and collaborate closely with designers, copywriters, producers, photographers, and external creative partners to deliver work at the highest level.
  • Direct photo/video shoots that highlight creators and showcase Patreon's brand values.
  • Ensure visual consistency across channels — from social and web to events and brand identity.
  • Iterate quickly and experiment with new formats, styles, and storytelling approaches that connect with creator audiences.
  • Champion the voice and perspective of creators inside and outside the company.
