About The Position

Aimé Leon Dore is looking for an Art Director to join our team in New York, New York, reporting directly to the CEO. This position will play a central role in shaping and protecting the visual identity of Aimé Leon Dore across brand, retail, product storytelling, campaign work, and experiential expressions. This role works in direct partnership with the Founder and Creative Director, translating creative vision into thoughtful, elevated output that reflects the brand’s world and point of view. The ideal candidate combines refined taste, strong design systems thinking, and humility — thriving in a high-standards, iterative, founder-driven environment where creative work is collaborative, intentional, and deeply detail-oriented.

Requirements

  • 6–10+ years’ experience in art direction or brand creative roles within fashion, luxury, lifestyle, editorial, or adjacent cultural spaces.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong composition, narrative sensibility, and refined minimal design execution.
  • Experience directing photo and video productions from concept through delivery.
  • Deep appreciation for culture, heritage, sport, music, craftsmanship, and storytelling as creative influences.
  • Proven ability to work in a hands-on, founder-led creative environment with iterative feedback and high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and collaborative working style.
  • Comfort balancing creative excellence with operational timelines and executional realities.

Responsibilities

  • Work in close, ongoing partnership with the Founder / Creative Director to interpret, strengthen, and extend the brand’s creative vision across all visual expressions.
  • Lead the development and execution of visual concepts, art direction, and brand storytelling across campaigns, lookbooks, retail environments, digital content, partnerships, and experiential projects.
  • Translate founder direction into cohesive visual systems, ensuring consistency in tone, restraint, and narrative cohesion.
  • Oversee photo and video art direction, including concepting, shot lists, composition, casting alignment, locations, and on-set creative leadership.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, Retail, and Studio teams to ensure creative output reflects ALD’s values, craft standards, and cultural authenticity.
  • Provide direction and feedback to designers, stylists, editors, photographers, and external collaborators — ensuring work meets taste, craft, and detail expectations.
  • Maintain and evolve brand guidelines, visual standards, and archival references.
  • Participate in creative reviews and iterative refinement, embracing a process where ideas are challenged and elevated through collaboration.
  • Support creative development for special projects, partnerships, and high-touch founder initiatives.
