We are hiring an Art Director, Video to lead the quality, consistency, and execution of video and motion content across campaigns, brands, and client engagements. This is a player-coach role that combines hands-on creative execution with creative leadership. In this role, you will set the standard for cinematic storytelling, pacing, and motion design through your own editing and production work, while also guiding and elevating the broader video team. You will shape and maintain motion languages and video brand identities, translate strategic goals into clear creative direction, and collaborate closely with strategists, copywriters, designers, and account teams to deliver high-impact video solutions that align with client goals and performance insights. Requirements

  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Media Encoder) with the ability to execute high-level motion and editing.
  • Proficiency in color grading workflows and audio mixing.
  • Advanced skills in visual storytelling, storyboarding, cinematography (lighting/composition), and narrative pacing.
  • Ability to lead and edit for diverse formats, including short-form social (9:16), long-form YouTube (16:9), and broadcast TV/OTT.
  • Experience producing and directing motion graphics, kinetic typography, and visual effects.
  • Experience building video brand guidelines, motion templates (MOGRTs), and production toolkits.
  • Ability to interpret scripts, strategy, and research and translate them into actionable directorial guidance to other editors/shooters.
  • Strong file management, proxy workflows, and server organization.
  • Ability to give clear, constructive feedback on pacing, narrative, and editing decisions without micromanaging.
  • Ability to effectively assign work to editors or shooters while maintaining personal production output ("Player-Coach" mentality).
  • Ability to translate abstract ideas or scripts into compelling visual storyboards and motion languages.
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable working across teams, roles, and functions.
  • Comfortable presenting work to clients and internal partners in a confident, compelling way.

Responsibilities

  • Lead video direction across live-action, motion graphics, and social content, translating client goals and audience insights into clear, actionable storyboards and shot lists for the team.
  • Review, refine, and approve video edits, sound design, and color grading to ensure they reflect best practices, contemporary standards, and brand consistency.
  • Lead the development and evolution of motion languages (video style guides, kinetic typography standards, and branded transitions) for clients and internal initiatives.
  • Partner with senior strategists and creative leadership to identify opportunities to strengthen video impact and alignment with performance insights.
  • Create hands-on video work for high-impact initiatives, brand anthems, or priority campaigns that set the narrative tone for the project.
  • Execute complex post-production tasks, including advanced motion graphics, compositing, and sound mixing, serving as the lead editor on key accounts.
  • Oversee and execute on-set art direction, ensuring lighting, composition, and set design align with the creative vision during shoots.
  • Stay current on video trends, platform updates (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts), and camera technology to guide the team on creative innovations.
  • Define and demonstrate internal best practices for digital platforms including YouTube, Meta, TikTok, and OTT/CTV environments.
  • Mentor videographers and editors by providing thoughtful direction on pacing, narrative structure, and technical execution.
  • Guide and assign contractors, voice-over artists, or freelancers to ensure creative quality, budget efficiency, and brand alignment.
  • Present video concepts and storyboards to clients with clarity, confidence, and strategic rationale.
  • Support business development by joining pitch calls, helping shape video proposals, and elevating the storytelling approach in new client opportunities.
  • Help identify and resolve production roadblocks (equipment needs, render times, scheduling) that impact timelines or campaign success.
