About The Position

The BFOB Art Curator is responsible for the strategic development, management, and stewardship of the organization’s art collection across its portfolio of companies and properties. This role ensures that artwork enhances brand identity, enriches the associate and guest experience, and reflects the organization’s values, culture, and community commitments. The Curator will lead acquisition strategy, oversee installation and preservation, manage vendor and artist relationships, and ensure proper documentation, valuation, and care of all art assets. This position works closely with executive leadership, facilities, design teams, marketing, and property leaders to integrate art into the physical and cultural environment of the BFOB. This position enhances brand differentiation, strengthens workplace culture, elevates guest and associate experience, protects valuable art assets, and supports the organization’s long-term cultural and community legacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in art history, Fine Arts, Museum Studies, or related field
  • 5–10+ years of professional experience in art curation, collection management, gallery, museum, or corporate collection environment
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary and/or historical art markets
  • Experience with acquisition negotiation, valuation, and provenance research
  • Project management skills with the ability to coordinate installations across multiple locations
  • Strong relationship-building skills with artists, galleries, and internal stakeholders
  • Financial acumen and experience managing budgets
  • Proficiency with collection management software and digital inventory systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation to executive leadership

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a long-term BFOB art strategy aligned with organizational brand, culture, and business objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend acquisitions, commissions, loans, and deaccessions.
  • Curate collections that reflect the organization’s heritage, geographic footprint, community partnerships, and diversity of artistic perspectives.
  • Present acquisition recommendations and budgets to executive leadership for approval.
  • Liaise with Sponsorship Team and other departments for potential artwork requests and recommendations.
  • Source and negotiate purchases and commissions, from galleries, artists, dealers, and auction houses.
  • Build and maintain relationships with artists, galleries, museums, and arts organizations.
  • Coordinate commissioned works that support specific properties, events, or branding initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate contracts, rights, and usage agreements are in place.
  • Plan and oversee installation, rotation, and placement of artwork across corporate offices, venues, hospitality properties, and other business locations.
  • Collaborate with facilities, interior design, architecture, and construction teams on new builds and renovations.
  • Ensure artwork enhances the aesthetic, brand experience, and functionality of each environment.
  • Manage the MBS Art Collection website including all content uploading and artwork.
  • Collaborate with Creative Department to ensure artwork, signage and web presence meant brand guidelines.
  • Maintain a comprehensive digital inventory, including provenance, condition reports, appraisals, insurance values, and tracking location.
  • Coordinate conservation, restoration, framing, and transportation.
  • Ensure appropriate environmental, security, and handling standards are maintained.
  • Partner with Risk Management and Finance to ensure proper insurance coverage and asset valuation.
  • Develop and manage the annual art program budget.
  • Monitor acquisition costs, conservation expenses, transportation, storage, and vendor services.
  • Provide periodic reporting on collection value, capital investments, and asset performance where applicable.
  • Curate internal exhibitions, rotating displays, and special installations across BFOB locations.
  • Support corporate events, executive spaces, and VIP experiences through curated art selections.
  • Develop programming that connects associates, guests, and communities to the collection (artist talks, tours, educational content).
  • Facilitate art specific tours.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to highlight the organization’s art initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Green Team for any opportunities for sustainably made artworks.
  • Establish and maintain BFOB policies for acquisition, deaccession, loans, and ethical collecting practices.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, tax, copyright, and cultural property regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for audits, insurance, and financial reporting.
  • Assist Family Services with any artwork requests for Chairman’s residences or other Family Office properties including, artwork acquisition, artwork commissions, photography printing, framing, artwork maintenance, installation (Includes any specialty displays).
  • Assist with the maintenance of current artwork inventory, Family Office collection and any other artwork assets in inventory.
  • Assist with continuing maintenance of DreAMBoat artwork collection and act as curator for any new potential acquisitions.
