Security Officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, team members, and company assets. Duties include but not limited to patrolling property, monitoring security systems, responding to emergencies, and delivering excellent guest service in a professional and courteous manner. Armed Security Officers carry firearms and may utilize non-lethal weapons and defensive equipment, requiring additional licensing, company training, and qualifications. In addition, compliance with all applicable laws, including successful completion of State-approved CCW, Boyd Gaming and Gaming regulations.

  • Patrol and monitor all areas of the property, including exterior areas, on foot, bicycle, or in a company vehicle.
  • Monitor alarm systems, surveillance cameras, access control systems and other security equipment.
  • Deliver excellent guest service, responding to questions, complaints, and/or conflicts in a professional manner.
  • Respond to physical threats. altercations, or aggressive behavior.
  • When necessary, engage in self-defense, and defensive tactics (including take downs, handcuffing, restraining, or subduing an assailant).
  • Utilize de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques to minimize the need for force.
  • Act as a first responder during emergencies (medical, fire, criminal, natural disasters).
  • Perform gaming drops and transactions, including carrying and transporting drop boxes and chip carriers. (min weight approx. 3 lbs to max weight 50 lbs)
  • Write detailed and accurate incident reports on accidents, property damage, theft, or unusual occurrences.
  • Serve as dispatcher to relay information, messages, or emergencies by phone or radio.
  • Administer first aid/CPR/AED and Narcan and follow medical emergency protocols.
  • Secure and preserve incident scenes, conduct evacuation procedures, and summon emergency responders when appropriate.
  • Attend and successfully pass all recurring mandatory training (legal, defensive tactics, CPR/AED, drills, etc).
  • Maintain proficiency with assigned equipment and communication devices.
  • Respond to all emergencies, including fires, medical incidents, and criminal activity.
  • Observe, report, and take appropriate action on suspicious or criminal activity.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Successful completion of State-mandated CCW Armed Academy and approval.
  • Firearms Safety Course and CCW Course completion.
  • Submission to law enforcement/Metro licensing process.
  • Maintain quarterly firearms qualification (4x annually).
  • Proper selection, care, and maintenance of firearm, holster, and related equipment.
  • Maintain proficiency with authorized non-lethal defensive tools (OC spray, handcuffs, etc.).
  • Utilize de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques
  • Strict adherence to company and legal Use of Force policy, CCW standards, gun safety protocols and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Uphold professional judgment and discretion when carrying and deploying weapons.
  • Immediately report any incident involving use of force, weapon discharge, or firearm handling concern in accordance with company policy
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in security, customer service, or related role.
  • Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete company Security Officer Academy.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

  • Must be able to perform bicycle patrol duties which include continuous riding, frequent mounting/dismounting, ability to carry up to 25 lbs of equipment, perform emergency stops and maneuvers, and operate safely in low light or inclement weather.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • HR218 qualification (Armed Officers) or equivalent
  • Gaming approval to be an armed officer
  • CCW required and issued by the State jurisdiction.
  • For Nevada – Gaming Control Board Regulation 5.040 and NRS 648/NRS 202.350 includes maintaining valid licensing and demonstrating firearm proficiency as part of the Boyd Gaming suitability and compliance standards.
  • Previous security, law enforcement, or military background.
  • Experience in resort, casino, or hospitality security environments.
