About The Position

As a Security Officer - Armed Vehicle Patrol Driver in San Antonio, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to concerns with calm, clear communication. This is an armed and driving post, requiring an Armed Guard Card or License and a valid driver’s license under AU driver policy requirements. Requirements

  • An armed guard card and/or license is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Experience with handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or baton is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at the shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using de-escalation techniques and requesting assistance from supervisors and/or public emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of interior areas, exterior grounds, parking areas, and perimeter points to help to deter unauthorized activity, with working conditions varying by assignment and time of day.
  • Control access by monitoring entrances, verifying authorization, managing visitor sign-in processes, and directing individuals to appropriate areas while respecting privacy and confidentiality expectations common to shelter environments.
  • Complete required security-related documentation such as daily activity logs, incident reports, and shift turnover notes, and communicate observations to site leadership and Allied Universal management.
