About The Position

The Area Trainer's primary responsibility is to deliver person-centered training to the workforce, individuals, and community partners across all service lines. This training aims to enhance the quality and care provided, aligning with the organization's purpose of helping people with developmental disabilities achieve their full potential. The role involves close collaboration with local operational leadership, clinical services & quality team, compliance team, and learning & development. The trainer will utilize standard operating practices, adhere to local regulations, apply adult learning principles, and leverage technology. Key duties include providing in-person training on person-centered care, services, and job-specific topics like Legal Rights/Guardianship, HIPPA/Confidentiality, Rights Restriction/Suspension, Overview of DD, Behavioral Interventions (Safety care), and Basics of PCSP’s for new hires and Host Home Providers. The role also involves active treatment training for ISLs, supporting DSPs, assisting program managers, and participating in various team meetings and calls. The trainer will provide training on PCSPs, Infection Control, documentation procedures, and EMAR, supplementing Relias courses with onsite support. They will offer OJT training for supported living managers on onboarding Supervisors and DSPs, and support quality Plan of Correction (POC) for re-training on ANEs, MANES, GERs, etc., liaising with L&D for in-person training needs like wheelchair tiedown processes. The Area Trainer will serve as a Missouri subject matter expert for Therap and Therap training for new staff and providers (T-Logs, shift notes, activity logs). Additionally, the role involves attending operations stand-ups, creating training materials, tracking training completion, and acting as an SME for Therap, Sharepoint, MSTeams Suite, G/L, and Relias. They will train on processes and standardization as directed by ADs and AVP, assist Area Directors with training issues for Managers of Residential Operations, and support staff in house meetings. The trainer will also train new staff and Host Home Providers on Attendance Billing, coordinate with Training & Development, provide Safety Care Training, First Aid/CPR instruction, and upload certificates/records to Relias. They will also be an SME for SharePoint, TEAMs, and Microsoft Products for employees and providers, and work with the AVP on process improvement through training efforts across the state.

Requirements

  • Theoretical or practical understanding of serving others, giving & receiving feedback, holding self & others accountable.
  • Proficiency in adult learning principles, coaching, collaboration, listening skills, conflict resolution, and leveraging technology to the fullest.
  • Ability to ensure quality, continuous improvement, continuous learning of self and processes along with a high degree of accuracy and follow-up.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or commensurate experience.
  • Three years of IDD experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced system technology experience (clinical and business systems).
  • Approximately 25% of time spent travelling with ability to travel across the market.
  • Flexibility with work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training around processes and state guidelines such as Legal Rights/Guardianship, HIPPA/Confidentiality, Rights Restriction/Suspension, Overview of DD, Behavioral Interventions (ISL - Safety care), and Basics of PCSP’s for new hires and Host Home Providers as an in-person supplement to assigned Relias training.
  • Conduct ISL’s - active treatment training, supporting DSPs training and goals, assisting the program managers, participating in standups/huddles, training calls.
  • Provide training on PCSPs, Infection Control measures, documentation procedures, EMAR.
  • Supplement Relias courses and provide additional onsite support as needed.
  • Provide OJT training for supported living managers regarding how to onboard Supervisors and DSP’s.
  • Supplement any onsite training needs for the ISL’s, Supervisors and DSP teams.
  • Support quality POC (Plan of Correction) for re-training around ANEs, MANES, GERs, etc.
  • Liaise with L&D and provide in-person training as needed, such as wheelchair tiedown process and any additional in person needs outside of assigned Relias courses.

  • Train out processes and standardization of tasks as directed by the ADs and AVP.
  • Assist the Area Directors on training issues related to the Managers of Residential Operations (on a case – by – case basis and in coordination with L&D).
  • Sit in meetings with ADs and Managers for support and training needs.
  • Assist staff with support in House meetings or retraining.
  • Train new staff and Host Home Providers on Attendance Billing.
  • Coordinate with Training & Development around attendance for these trainings.
  • Provide Safety Care Training for Employees and share with the local L&D coordinator.
  • Upload Safety Care certificates to Relias.
  • Provide First Aid/ CPR instruction for both Host Home Providers and Employees.
  • Upload First Aid/CPR records and documentation to Relias.
  • Act as an SME for SharePoint, TEAMs, Microsoft Products (Outlook, excel, word) for employees and providers as needed (on a case – by -case basis).
  • Train on consistent processes across the state.
  • Work with the AVP on process improvement opportunities through training efforts.
