Consider joining our team and work with peers who have vast industry knowledge and experience solving complex problems. We are seeking an Area Manager to lead our Mountain Area business. Kleinfelder’s Mountain Area business unit consists of approximately 150 professionals operating primarily in Colorado and Utah. Our team offers a wide range of services including engineering design, geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and construction observation/materials testing. We currently work for a broad range of clients in the private and public sector. The successful candidate will provide overall leadership to ensure the Area meets its projected goals for growth and profitability. They will collaborate with local leadership in the Area and across the Company to develop a business plan to position the firm to grow and compete successfully in the respective marketplaces. This leadership position will be accountable for delivering exceptional client service, continually strengthening the business unit and providing a challenging and rewarding environment for employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related field required.
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in an engineering consulting firm or related professional service business
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in their local market,
  • A minimum of five years of managing a P&L for a business
  • Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

Responsibilities

  • Meets or exceeds Area plan objectives for safety, sales, revenue, cash and profitability.
  • Develops and leads excellence in the following areas:
  • Business Development
  • Leads development and implementation of strategic sales plan to position the Area for above-average growth.
  • Possesses local market knowledge and ensures we are taking advantage of available opportunities
  • Identifies and attracts new clients and opportunities to Kleinfelder
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key clients and teaming partners in the Area
  • Coaches seller/doers to make smart decisions related to go/no go decision, level of effort for business development activity, and approaches to client engagement
  • Performs costing for and/or provides guidance related to win themes and value propositions for all significant proposal efforts in the Area
  • Planning & Operations
  • Develops annual business plan to continuously improve utilization, sales, and profit metrics
  • Ensures client satisfaction
  • Drives exceptional business and project management practices
  • Drives the quality of the work product through collaboration with technical leadership in the Area and across the Company
  • Ensure the safety of employees through effective execution of Company safety practices including personal involvement in stewardship
  • Leverages the company systems, processes, corporate personnel and other resources to create efficiency and business discipline
