About The Position

Self Storage Consulting Group (SSCG) is a nationwide full-service storage firm that offers expertise throughout the life cycle of any storage asset; due diligence, feasibility studies, design, build, and management. We have an opportunity for an Area Manager to lead the teams at our Northern California locations (primarily local travel involved). Salary $72,000 per year. He/she aggressively contributes to profitability by developing and maintaining mutually beneficial business relationships and possessing basic computer skills. The Area Manager should have experience leading multiple facilities, because they will also be responsible for ensuring Area wide customer satisfaction and measuring the financial performance of all the locations in their Area. They will be inspiring a team of great people committed to creating a welcoming environment.

Requirements

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be physically able to stand for long periods and be able to move about freely, stoop/bend, and walk; frequent reaching/pulling/pushing and repetitive motions Work in all outdoor conditions

  • Nature of work requires an ability to effectively communicate and exchange information; collect, compile and prepare work documents, and operate standard business office equipment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time at the designated work area and/or while traveling in a car, airplane or other means of transportation.
  • Travels within the Area and to other designated locations as directed by the Company; travel is required by car and/or airplane as well as extended stays.
  • Exceptional communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and coach employees
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent of 3-5 years work-related experience and/or training in retail sales, retail and/or customer service.
  • At least 1 - 2 years of experience in supervisory or lead role.
  • Demonstrated leadership competency in building, developing and retaining high-performing teams.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Work well under pressure, meeting deadlines consistently
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and accountable for all Area Facilities activities and operations impacting Customers, Employees and the achievement of Company goals/ expectations through direct interaction and through the use of appropriate Company resources.
  • Responsible for meeting Company revenue goals by achieving or exceeding monthly budget expectations.
  • Directly responsible for in-depth knowledge of state specific lien process and requirements.
  • Conducts quarterly facility audits to ensure physical and operational standards are being met.
  • Directly oversees daily activities of employees and provides current, complete, positive and corrective feedback directly to employees.
  • Develops productive teams through leadership, job-relevant training, developmental experiences, feedback, and mentoring to set and achieve operational goals.
  • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and hiring. Creates a climate in which employees want to do their best by leading and communicating a shared vision with employees and providing coaching and development.
  • Travels within the designated area to every facility and to other designated locations as directed by the Company to attend meetings and training sessions.
  • Cover other areas as needed
  • Management of rental rates, discounts, Customer Protection Plan and other income sources.
  • Manages controllable expenses to provide the highest N.O.I. for each store.
  • Utilizes management information tools and analyzes financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in Area performance.
  • Manages with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture and values of Self Storage Consulting Group LLC.
  • Plans, identifies, communicates and delegates key responsibilities and practices to the manager to ensure smooth flow of operations within the Area.
  • Coordinates third party repairs and maintenance of the facilities in their area.
  • Ensures that team members demonstrate sales-focused and customer-centric behaviors when interacting with our customers.
  • Ensure area is operating within approved budgets.
