About The Position

This is an exempt position directly responsible for the growth and management of Pike Electric’s operations. The Area Manager will be involved in job estimation and client development, attending pre-bid meetings and conducting client pre-construction meetings as needed. Key responsibilities include ensuring the safety, efficient scheduling, and quality of work for their crews. The role requires an individual with the skills to oversee multiple work groups and the ambition to expand the assigned area of operation. Requirements

  • 10 years Electrical Utility experience strongly preferred.
  • Extensive travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work independently or with others.
  • Capable of following Company safety rules and policies.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards.
  • Must be capable of working in close proximity of energized equipment and facilities.
  • Proficient knowledge in all aspects of Transmission systems.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Transmission Operations while acting as a liaison between corporate and field operations, as well as clients.
  • Promote other service offerings of the business, such as engineering and distribution.
  • Work closely with field supervision to ensure proper oversight of field crews.
  • Ensure compliance with Pike Electric safety policies and training.
  • Handle all aspects of contract negotiation, bidding, estimating, change order identification, submittal and approval, administration, and establishing the means to execute the contract, including management of subcontractors and material procurement.
  • Ensure effective management to ensure profitability and expected cash flow on all projects and master service agreements.
  • Participate in job estimation and client development.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct client pre-construction meetings when necessary.
  • Be responsible for the safety, efficient scheduling, and work quality of crews.
  • Interpret construction drawings (i.e. elevations, plan views, section views, details, etc) and communicate with customers and subordinates.
  • Administer coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Develop and interpret a material list, bid packages, scope documents, schedules, and budgets required in work performance.
  • Perform employee evaluations.
  • Interview, hire, and terminate employees.
  • Interface with contractors, designers, vendors, and other parties connected with the project.
