The Area Leader is responsible for developing internal succession plans and a deep bench of managers at all levels of store operations by developing head coaches and identifying talent. This role requires a clear understanding of how to improve capability and performance with a sense of urgency. The Area Leader will develop and coach an understanding of the sweetgreen profile, driving recruitment of high-potential internal and external talent, and continuous performance improvement focusing on leading indicators and key metrics. The approach should be balanced, focusing equally on people, financial, and customer experience metrics. Key objectives include meeting/exceeding annual P&L objectives with a primary focus on top-line sales, productivity, and production management. This involves fostering customer connections through community marketing, throughput and technology initiatives, new product launches, and an in-depth merchandising mentality. The Area Leader will also train, coach, and inspire all locations to deliver exceptional customer experiences and high-quality culinary operations, ensuring commitment to sweetgreen’s operational policies and procedures. Leading head coach development personally and professionally through goal setting, coaching, feedback, and understanding individual motivations, always connecting development to improved performance, is crucial. The role also involves developing strong cross-functional partnerships to ensure stores receive the right support to improve performance and remove barriers, focusing on the customer, people, and results. Fostering a positive, team-oriented environment with a healthy competitive spirit that encourages sharing best practices and commitment to goal achievement is expected. Finally, the Area Leader will foster and grow strong community connections within each restaurant neighborhood by leading head coaches to develop brand ambassadors and maximizing sweetgreen community-based programs.
