About The Position

The Area Estimation Specialist is responsible for recruitment, training and coaching, and utilization metrics for Estimators in their geographical area. This role plays a crucial part in decision-making processes, ensuring project viability, and providing a final review before submission to customers for projects exceeding a specified amount. The specialist is also responsible for the hiring, onboarding, and training of all Estimators in their assigned area to meet customer expectations and maintain critical relationships with Lowe’s Home Improvement.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience must involve customer service management.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write letters and prepare other documents as needed.
Proofreads work.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure for basic algebraic and geometric calculations.
Highly efficient at interpreting plans and specifications to produce quality estimates.
Ability to lead situationally and motivate organizational goals and expectations.
Sharing vision and strategy in an effective and inspiring manner.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Knowledge of computer workstations and peripheral equipment.
Knowledge of database, spreadsheet, email, and word processing software.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in English.
Ability to view documents, multiple screens, and read handwritten documents and drive.
The ability to see color is required for this position.
Must be able to drive vehicle as well as meet company driving and insurance coverage requirements.
Up to 75% travel.

Nice To Haves

Three to five years’ experience with ground-up construction with a thorough knowledge of floor covering installation requirement and best practices.
Experience with software such as Floorsoft and Floor wizard estimating software.

Responsibilities

Meet Company established Key Performance Indicators.
Recruit, Onboard, and Train Estimators for assigned geographical area, including interviews on the phone or in-person.
Using software to analyze resumes and find candidates for the Estimator role.
Provide guidance and support to Estimators in your assigned geographical area.
Managing and coordinating a team of flooring estimators across multiple locations.
Coordinating with Lowes to obtain pricing and product information.
Keeping up to date with industry trends, products, and technologies.
Ensuring that all estimates are prepared in a timely manner and meet quality standards.
Reviewing and analyzing data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of risk.
Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
Training and mentoring Flooring Estimators on best practices, new technologies, and industry developments.
Preparing reports and presenting information to leadership.
Perform targeted store visits at the direction of the Estimation Manager or Director of Operations.
In partnership with the workrooms, develop and implement Estimator retention and appreciation plans.
Other duties as assigned.
