About The Position

Are you detail-oriented and passionate about ensuring accuracy in financial operations? Do you want to play a key role in supporting accounting functions at some of Milwaukee’s premier downtown hotels? If so, we invite you to join our team as an Area General Cashier . In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding assets, balancing transactions, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with cash handling policies—all while providing support to management and associates across multiple properties. Requirements

  • High school diploma required; college courses in accounting preferred.
  • 2+ years of cashier experience.
  • Ability to travel regularly between downtown Milwaukee locations.
  • Strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical computations.
  • Knowledge of general ledger systems, accounting principles, and corporate procedures.
  • Flexibility to assist in other accounting functions as assigned.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and clean uniform.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and balance daily cash and gift card transactions.
  • Control house funds, including bank issuance to managers and associates, petty cash distributions, and change orders.
  • Maintain cash handling contracts and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Perform change orders for shifts and maintain proper denominations in the central fund.
  • Support associates with cash handling questions and challenges.
  • Audit all cashier banks as defined by accounting policies.
  • Identify and report variances in cash, gift card, and credit card transactions, communicating significant variances to accounting management.
  • Audit and reconcile property vending (ATM, laundry, vending machines).
  • Ensure clear and accurate audit trails throughout all tasks.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate electronic files, including payroll deductions, tip allocations, and cash handling documentation.
  • Assist with monthly closing duties, including inventories and accruals.
  • Contribute to systems and controls improvements and training documentation.
  • Complete management reports and other accounting tasks as assigned.
