MAIN DUTIES: Assisting the woodworking engineer creating drawings for woodwork; using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD) and other computer applications to create submittal drawings and shop drawings per the contract and architectural intent of a project ensuring that custom woodwork seamlessly integrates into the overall architectural vision; applying Architectural Woodworking (AWI) standards; drafting plans and detailed drawings for structures, installations, and construction projects, including drawing wooden artistic one-of-a-kind decorative objects for residential and historic preservation of buildings in reconstruction; developing lists of materials for each project; working closely with the Engineering Manager, Shop Manager, Project Manager, and collaborates with the engineering team to ensure that project drawing aligns with the design intent and fabrication efficiency; drawing the designer’s wooden aesthetic concepts to restore and preserve the integrity and authenticity of important traditional buildings; coordinating structural, electrical, and mechanical designs and determining a method to represent building plans graphically; analyzing building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs; ensuring completion of shop drawings in a timely manner; seeks ways to expedite drawing time without sacrificing quality and accuracy; attending Hand-Off meetings to ensure complete understanding of project scope and timelines; reviewing contract drawings thoroughly to understand expectations and question any discrepancies; reviewing project specs and ensure we are drawing the current sets; uploads Crows Nest or similar program drawing sets; keeping project status updated throughout the process; identifying items that are out of scope and/or different from contract documents; and maintaining and organizing drawings in job file per Woodworking standards. MIN. REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years of experience creating drawings for woodwork; using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD) and other computer applications to create submittal drawings and shop drawings per the contract and architectural intent of a project; drawing wooden artistic one-of-a-kind decorative objects for residential and historic preservation of buildings in reconstruction; ensuring that project drawing aligns with the design intent and fabrication efficiency; drawing the designer’s wooden aesthetic concepts to restore and preserve the integrity and authenticity of important traditional buildings; coordinating structural, electrical, and mechanical designs and determining a method to represent building plans graphically; reading blueprints; analyzing and drawing architectural millwork; using AutoCAD, SketchUP & LayOut, Bluebeam Revu & Adobe Acrobat, Crows Nest, ArchiCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Microvellum Cabinet Design, and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
