We’re currently seeking a highly motivated Architectural Inspector located in Baltimore, MD. Position Overview: The Architectural Inspector is responsible for monitoring and inspecting architectural construction activities associated with terminal development and related infrastructure projects at medium to large commercial airports or major industrial facilities. This role supports the Construction Management and Inspection team by ensuring that architectural work is constructed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, building codes, and project quality standards. The Architectural Inspector will work closely with the Project Manager, Resident Engineer, contractors, and design consultants to verify that architectural elements of the project are properly installed and meet required quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This position requires experience working in complex construction environments where coordination with multiple trades and operational stakeholders is essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Architectural Inspector at a medium to large commercial airport or large industrial facility.
  • Demonstrated experience inspecting architectural construction work including interior buildouts, building envelope systems, structural finishes, passenger areas, and terminal support spaces.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, architectural specifications, and building codes.
  • Experience working in active airport environments or large complex facilities is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect architectural construction activities to verify compliance with approved construction documents, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Monitor contractor installation of architectural components including wall systems, ceilings, flooring, finishes, doors, glazing systems, and other interior and exterior building elements.
  • Verify that materials used in construction meet project specifications and approved submittals.
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure that construction work meets quality standards and conforms to design intent.
  • Document inspection results through daily reports, inspection logs, and photographic documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Resident Engineer and Construction Management team to identify deficiencies, nonconforming work, or potential construction issues.
  • Assist in reviewing contractor submittals and shop drawings related to architectural systems.
  • Observe testing and commissioning activities associated with architectural systems and building envelope components.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and airport operational requirements.
  • Participate in construction progress meetings and coordination meetings as required.
  • Support resolution of field conflicts between architectural elements and other building systems including structural, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Verify completion of corrective actions related to deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Assist with punch list development and final acceptance inspections for completed construction work.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of inspection activities to support project quality assurance procedures.
