Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Architectural Engineer Intern to join our design and engineering team. This internship provides hands-on experience in architectural engineering, allowing students to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects. The intern will assist in the planning, design, and analysis of building systems, working closely with engineers, architects, and construction professionals.

Requirements

  • Education: Ideal candidates are pursuing either a Bachelors or Masters in Architecture with a Structures design emphasis and possess a strong interest in Industrial building design, problem solving and teamwork within a professional engineering environment.
  • GPA: Minimum GPA of 2.8 (3.0 GPA preferred).
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Transportation: Interns must have their own reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Geographical Flexibility: Willing to relocate to Decatur, IL for Summer 2025.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a background check is required.
  • Availability: Must be available for a summer internship from mid-May to early August 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects for Summer 2026, with assistance from hiring manager and other EHS operations colleagues.
  • Support architectural and engineering design efforts for new construction, renovation, and expansion projects.
  • Assist with drafting and modeling using AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM software.
  • Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Perform site visits, collect field data, and assist with inspections as needed.
  • Collaborate with structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure coordinated and efficient designs.
  • Gain exposure to construction standards, codes, and best practices in structural engineering.
  • Participate in and/or lead meetings, training sessions, and ops briefings.
  • Present findings, project results, and recommendations to engineering leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
